Life in the village is a rhythm of its own—a harmony between tradition, family, and the land. In Bua, this way of life is deeply rooted in communal values, where everyone shapes the day-to-day experiences that make our home special. From the early morning rooster’s call to the sound of children’s laughter by the well (jovu/ti'ovu), every moment here echoes resilience and togetherness.
Our days begin early, with women tending to household chores and preparing meals over an open fire, while men head out to the plantations or the sea. The elderly gather on the verandas, sharing wisdom through stories, while children play freely, their laughter filling the air. Church gatherings remain central to our lives, reinforcing our faith and fostering unity among our people.
One of the defining aspects of village life is the strong sense of communal responsibility. When an event or a gathering is on the horizon, the entire village mobilizes—each family contributing their time, skills, and resources. This spirit of togetherness is what makes our upcoming event, the 2025 Bose Vayabaki, a significant moment in our village’s journey.
The 2025 Bose Vayabaki for the Methodist Church will be an important occasion as we open our doors to welcome people from all over Bua to Namalata Kubulau Bua. This gathering will not only be a time of spiritual reflection and reconnection but also an opportunity to showcase our hospitality and share stories.
Preparations are already underway, with the village actively planning accommodations, food supplies, and logistics. Families are preparing to host guests, ensuring that every visitor experiences the warmth and generosity & best experience. The women’s groups are organizing meal plans, ensuring that traditional Fijian dishes such as vakalolo, kokoda, and lovo are prepared in abundance. The men are working on infrastructure, ensuring that communal spaces are well-maintained and ready for large gatherings.
Beyond the physical preparations, there is a renewed sense of unity and pride in our village. This event is more than just a church conference; it is a reaffirmation of our identity, our faith, and the strength of our people. It is a moment to pass down traditions to the younger generation, teaching them the importance of community and service.
Hosting the Bose Vayabaki is an honor and a responsibility that we should ake seriously. In true Fijian fashion, we will welcome our guests with open arms, ensuring they feel at home in Namalata. Our cultural performances, traditional ceremonies, and heartfelt hospitality will reflect the love and respect we have for our visitors.
As we continue preparing, we look forward to sharing this experience with the rest of Fiji. The bonds we strengthen, the lessons we learn, and the memories we create will leave a lasting impact, not just on our village but on everyone who steps foot in Bua for the 2025 Bose Vayabaki.
Stay tuned for more updates as we journey toward this remarkable gathering. Vinaka vakalevu!
